Mark Twain

Today is Mark Twain Birthday. At Bullet Blues, we like his talent and humor. We are cat lovers too.

Born on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, Samuel L. Clemens wrote under the pen name Mark Twain and went on to pen several novels, including two major classics of American literature, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He was also a riverboat pilot, journalist, lecturer, entrepreneur and inventor. He wrote about big issues, like racism, that were controversial in his day. That’s why he used a pseudonym. He wanted to protect himself from critics. Instead, Twain found an audience of fans that saw him as a beloved writer and a zany jokester.

Twain died on April 21, 1910, in Redding, Connecticut.

Our favorite quote is: “Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”

Happy Birthday Mark Twain!
